International Rat Frenzy!
Drowning Rat's almost here: May 21-23 at B. Canyon (same spots as last time). We'll
also be joined in spirit by drowners around the globe for D-Rat 2004, including (sniff!)
some of our trad drowners who alas cannot join us in body this year. But individuals will
be drowning small totems of ratness from the deck of a Greenpeace ship off the coast of
New Zealand... on a Los Angeles freeway... in the East Bay of San Francisco... and
in New York's East River. Now that's rat love.
B.Y.O.R.: Rat's Nest
Year One, we had that whole ritual of chanting and/or burning stuff and drizzling the
ashes--along with some other dubious liquids--into the rat before drowning. Then last year,
I married the Rat (blush). This year I was thinking we could have a Rat's Nest, each of us
make a little rat to drown. It would be a mark of solidarity with the various drowners
around the world. Whaddya say? Philip's gonna bring some hemp to tie things with. Plus a
very special surprise for the first 10 campers to arrive. Woo!
